MARY STANLEY CROTTY

CLASS OF 1930

JANUARY 18, 1913 - JULY 16, 1981

Mrs. Mary Stanley Crotty, 68, formerly of Osawatomie, died Thursday, July 16, 1981, at the Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M.

She was born in Osawatomie, Jan 18, 1913, the daughter of Earl A. and Stella Hunt Stanley. She graduated from Osawatomie High School as valedictorian of her class in 1930. She attended the University of Kansas at Lawrence and later recieved a social service technician certificate from the University of New Mexico.

In October of 1931, she was married in Ottawa, to Martin J. Crotty II, son of the late Martin J. and Bertha Crotty of Osawatomie. The family settled in Albuquerque in 1955.

Before her retirement in 1975, Mrs. Crotty was employed by Sears for 15 years. During her lifetime she had held memberships in P.E.O., Order of the Eastern Star and Business Women's Association. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and had been a volunteer with the Presbyterian Hospital Auxiliary.

For the past three years she had made her home with her daughter and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Helen M. Stanley, who died in 1933.

Surviving are her daugher, Marcia, wife of Lou Hoffman; her son, Martin J. Crotty Jr., and two granddaughters, all of Albuquerque, N.M.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie. The Rev. Gene Riley officiated. Mrs. Nelle Dollar provided organ music.

Pallbearers were George Zakoura, M. C. Flint, John Punshon, Bud Lhuillier, C. A. Thoms and Wayne Fairchild. Burial was in the Elmdale Cemetery.
