Walter Dell Osmon, 73, Osawatomie, died Monday, May 20, 1985, at his home.  He was known as Nub.

He was born Nov. 18 ,1911, in Osawatomie, the son of Charles and Clara Belle Landis Osmon.  He grew up in Osawatomie and attended the schools there.  He gradudated from the Osawatomie High School.

Mr. Osmon was a machinist apprentice with the Missouri Pacific Railroad from 1936 until 1940 when he began working for the United States Government as an armaments machinist.  He worked at military installations in Rock Island, Ill, Hawaii, California, and other places.

He lived his entire life in Osawatomie except when he was working for the government.

From 1952 until 1962, Mr. Osmon had his own refrigeration business in Osawatomie known as Osmon Serice.  In 1962 he began working at the Osawatomie State Hospital in refrigeration and air conditioning maintenance.  He retired in 1976.

Mr. Osmon had been a member of the Osawatomie Masonic Lodge since 1940, and was a former member of the International Machinist Assocations.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, R.J. Sankoski; two brothers, Harley and Howard; and a nephew.

The survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Maire F. Chappelle of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Geneca Owston of San Diego, Calif., one nephew and three nieces.

The services were at 7:30 pm Friday at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie.  The Rev. Ted Hunt of the United Methodist Church officiated.  Cremation.  The ashes will be buried at a later date in the Osawatomie Cemetery.

Memorials were made in his name to the Osawatomie Recreation Commission.
