WILLIAM O. MATTINGLY

Services for William O. Mattingly, 70, Osawatomie, who died May 7, 1977, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kansas City, were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, at the Eddy-Birchard Chapel in Osawatomie. The Rev. Clayton Pittman officiated.

Organ selections were provided by Mrs. Ida Phares. Burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery with Larry White, Raymond Mathia, Keith Adams, Tom Speck Jr., and John David Cole serving as pallbearers.

The eighth of nine children of Louis V. and Christine Cooper Mattingly, he was born in Osawatomie on March 7, 1907. He graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1930.

Mr. Mattingly worked as a trainman for the Missouri Pacific Railroad until his retirement in 1972. He was a member of the United Transportation Union.

On Sept. 19, 1941, he was married to Helen Smith in Lyons and she survives. Other survivors include his son, Louis Mattingly, Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Gander, Overland Park, and Miss Maralyn Mattingly, of the home in Osawatomie; four grandchildren; a brother, Don Mattingly, LeRoy, and a sister, Mrs. Corrine Kumsick, Shawnee Mission.

His parents, four sisters and two brothers preceded him death.
