LINNIE JENKINS MOONEY

DECEMBER 14, 1911 - OCTOBER 19, 1989

Services for Linnie Belle Mooney, 124 Pacific Ave., Osawatomie, were held Sunday in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mooney, 77, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 1989, in the Olathe Medical Center.

The daughter of Fred Fountain and Ethel Mae Plummer Jenkins, she was born Dec. 14, 1911, in Hillsdale. When she was a young girl, the family moved to the Osawatomie area. She attended Plum Creek School until the family moved into Osawatomie in 1918. She then attended Osawatomie schools, graduating from Osawatomie High School in 1930.

In 1932, she and Melverne Clarence Mooney were married in Ottawa. they made their home in Osawatomie and became the parents of a daughter. Mr. Mooney died April 23, 1963.

Mrs. Mooney was a checker at Willard's IGA for several years before retiring in the late 1970s. She had also worked in Parks Meat Market and Terrill's Department Store, both in Osawatomie.

Mrs. Mooney was a member of the United Methodist Church and Osawatomie Chapter No. 26, Order of Eastern Star, Both in Osawatomie.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Stoner.

Survivors include her daughter, Janice Gard, Fulton, Mo.; a sister, Thelma Hunsperger, Osawatomie; two granddaughters; two step grandchildren; and one step great-granddaughter.

The Rev. Ted Hunter conducted the services. Pallbearers were Glenn Bigelow, Ray Jenkins, Frank Coker, Terry D. Tate, John Olveria and Glenn Ricketts. Burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery.
