DELMAR GRANT

CLASS OF 1930

NOVEMBER 9, 1910 - DECEMBER 10, 1984

Delmar R. Grant of R1, Osawatomie, died Dec. 10, 1984, at his home after a five-month illness. He was 74 years old.

He was the oldest of three children, born Nov. 9, 1910, on the family farm south of Osawatomie to Oscar and Fern Rose Grant.

He grew up south of Osawatomie and attended the Deercreek country school, and graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1930.

On New Year's Eve 1934, he married Julia Margaret Thompson in Paola, They were the parents of one son, Richard Grant.

He farmed, raised beef cattle and operated a dairy during his life.

His parents and one infant sister preceded him in death.

Survivors are his wife, Margaret, of the home; his son, Richard Grant, of Osawatomie; three grandchildren, Brad Grant, of Osawatomie, Mrs. Tera Troutman of Garnett and Scott Grant of Herington; two great-grandsons and one sister, Mrs. Maxine Redding of Kansas City, Kan.

Services were held in the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home with the Rev. Ted Hunter and Dr. Alan Smith officiating. The soloist was Ike McMahon, accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Nelle Dollar. He sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "The Lord's Prayer".

Honorary pallbearers were Harvey Bratton, Walter Bratton, Raymond Weaver, Harry Cavinee, Mike Sheehan and Francis Shaughnessy. Brad Grant, Scott Grant, Brian Troutman, Ron Redelfs, Ernest Jones and Jim McKinley served as active pallbearers.

Burial was in the Beagle Cemetery. Contributions were made to the Cancer fund.
