ROBERT DOWNEN

CLASS OF 1930

Robert A. Downen, 66, died Monday, June 21, 1976, at his home, R1, Louisburg. he was born and lived in Osawatomie most of his life, except for 13 years when he lived in Overland Park, before moving to Louisburg.

Mr. Downen owned and operated a dry cleaning plant in Osawatomie for 14 years. He was then plant manager for Blandard Cleaners in Fairway for 13 years before retiring and moving to Louisburg in 1974.

Surviving are his wife of 43 year, Mrs. Dorothe Downen of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Benda, Dallas, TX, and Mrs Bernice Turner, Marshall, MO and three grandchildren. 

Services were held at 1:30 pm at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie on Thursday, June 24, with the Rev. Clayton Pittman officiating. Mrs. John Dollar provided organ selections. 

Burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery with George Austin, Roy Thomas, George Zakoura, Leon Smith, Joe Whiteford and Art Bird serving as pallbearers.
