HENRY ALBERT "HANK" STANLEY

JULY 21, 1911 - NOVEMBER 2, 1990

Services for Henry Albert "Hank" Stanley, 165 N. 15th St., Osawatomie, were held Monday (November 5) in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.

Mr. Stanley, a lifelong resident of Osawatomie, died Friday (November 2) in the Olathe Medical Center. He was 79.

The son of Albert and Maude Kelly Stanley, he was born July 21, 1911, in Osawatomie where he grew up and attended schools. He graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1929.

He and Velma Ewing were married June 29, 1935, in Paola and they became the parents of three children.

Mr. Stanley began a career with the Missouri Pacific Railroad in 1941 that was to span 43 years until his retirement as a conductor in 1974.

His memberships included the United Methodist Church, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 921 and Osage Valley Lodge No. 24, A.F.&A.M., all of Osawatomie, and the St. Elmo Commandry of Paola.

Among those preceding him in death was a son and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Velma, of the home; a son, Albert H. Stanley, Wellsville; a daughter, Janet Bachman, Baytown, Texas; two brothers, Jack Stanley, Paola, and Leslie Stanley, Omaha, Neb.; four sisters , Grace Rogoski, Mineral Wells, Texas, Thelma Astin and Mary Jane Strode, Laurie, Mo., Charlotte Giager, Osawatomie; four grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren.

Officiating at the services was the Rev. Ted Hunter. Masonic services were also held. Pallbearers were Phillip Bachman, Rick Bachman, Albert Stanley, Mike Giager, Bill Hurley and Adam Rogoski. Burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in his name to the church.
