CLASS OF 1928 JULY 5, 1910 - FEBRUARY 3, 1988 Services for Ruth Corrine Barber, Olathe, were held Sunday in Frye Chapel. Mrs. Barber, 77, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1988 in a hospital in Mesa, Ariz. The daughter of John and Macy Lyons Price, she was born July 5, 1910 in Osawatomie. She graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1928. She was a clerk-typist in the purchasing department at the Olathe Naval Air Station for 21 years before retiring in 1973. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Olathe. Ruth was married to Oliver Tawney on June 14, 1930 in Osawatomie. Oliver died Nov. 11, 1968. In addition to her first husband others who preceded her in death included her parents and three brothers, Clyde Price, Earl Price and Dale Price. In 1975, Ruth married Albert Barber. They enjoyed life together and enjoyed thirteen winters in Mesa, Ariz. Survivors include her husband, Albert Barber; a stepson, David Barber, Olathe; a brother, Glen Price, Springfield, Missouri; a sister, Esther Gamble, Olathe; and two step-grandchildren. Burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery. |
