JANUARY 17, 1910 - JANUARY 28, 2007

Freda Mae Miller, age 97, of Osawatomie, Kansas, died January 28, 2007 at Life Care Center in Osawatomie.

She was born in Osawatomie on January 12, 1910, the daughter of Morris Oscar and Olive (Loutzenhiser) Miller. Six years later her sister Fern Maxine was born on her birthday. Fern died in 1974. Freda graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1928. She attended Pittsburg State and University of Wyoming.

She taught five years in the rural areas of Osage Valley, Fairview and Union Valley. She taught American History in the Junior High classes for 41 years in Osawatomie, substituted for 10 years, and then worked at Head Start.

She loved her home at 414 Brown, her pets, each little dog so very special. Her days at Life Care Center and her doctor/friend Jeff were special to her, too. Freda considered every day of her life to be special to her.

She was a member of the 8th Street Church of Christ. She enjoyed the clubs to which she belonged.

Those preceding her in death were her parents, her sister, and a great nephew Kirby Robertson.

She is survived by nieces Judy Martin and Dana Barney; great nieces Pam Ramirez, Terri Hadl, Samone Knott, and Cyndy Storm; great nephews Mike Hadl and Greg Blaas; several great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews; and the many friends and students she taught and loved.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2007 at Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home. She will lie in state from 1:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery at Baldwin City, Kansas. Memorial contributions can be made to the 8th Street Church of Christ or the Miami County Humane Society.
