Pauline M. Peck, 98, longtime resident of Springfield, died at Cox South Hospital on January 14, 2009.

Mrs. Peck was born on March 19, 1910, in Osawatomie, Kansas, graduating from high school as Valedictorian there in 1928. She attended Kansas State University for two years and then a business college in Kansas City.

Mrs. Peck married Wyatt N. Peck on November 3, 1934, in Olathe, Kansas, and raised a family in Clinton, Missouri.

She and her husband ran a fishing and hunting lodge in Canada for many years, and she did a portage trip into the First Nation Ojibwa to fish in the 40's. At the lodge she ran the office and cooked everyday for American Plan lodgers.

Pauline Peck and her husband were both Bridge Life Masters, in her later years she worked for the Missouri Council of Aging, often caring for clients younger than she. She was a 54 year member of Grace United Methodist Church, compiled a history of her Sunday School class, and acted as its treasurer for many years.

Mrs. Peck's husband, Wyatt, and two sons, Robert and Richard, preceded her in death. Survivors include one son James W.; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Grace United Methodist Church on January 21, 2009. Interment was in Springfield National Cemetery under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel.
