Graveside services for Rachel Elfrieda Land, 302 12th St., Osawatomie, were held Monday in Burlingame Cemetery.

Mrs. Land died Friday, May 13, 1988, in the Olathe Medical Center. She was 78.

She was born Nov. 26, 1909, in Altoona, the daughter of Fred and Jennie Josephine Miller Boling. She grew up in Osawatomie where she attended school, graduating from Osawatomie High School in 1928.

She and Larry Land were married Oct. 8, 1931, and they made their home in Tulsa, Okla. Mrs. Land worked as a secretary for oil firms.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the White Shrine and an extension homemakers unit, all of Tulsa.

Mrs. Land returned to Osawatomie in August of 1986. Her husband preceded her in death in 1980.

Survivors include a sister, Lorraine Chaddock, Eugene, Ore., and a half-sister, Frances Tenpenny, Bloomington, Ind.

The Rev. Jeff King officiated at the services. Burial was under the direction of Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.

A memorial has been established in her name to the American Heart Association.
