Services for Anna Lee Hayes, Pretty Prairie, were held Friday in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hayes, a former resident of 504 Lincoln Ave., Osawatomie, died Monday, July 25, 1994, in Prairie Sunset Nursing Home in Pretty Prairie. She was 86.

The daughter of Hiram and Maggie Buxton Spellman, she was born March 23, 1908, in Claremore, Okla. She moved with her family to Osawatomie when she was a child and received her education in Osawatomie schools, graduating from Osawatomie High School in 1927.

She and Clarence Delmont Hayes were married July 18, 1929, in Osawatomie and they became the parents of two daughters. In addition to being a homemaker, she had worked at Mode O'Day and Cokers Brothers in Osawatomie.

Mrs. Hayes was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

Among those preceding her in death were four brothers and sisters and one grandchild.

Survivors include two daughters, Dona McCutcheon, Roseville, Minn., and Judy Rollman, Kingman; a brother, Ray Spellman, Clinton, Mo; a sister, Bessie Elkinton, Osawatomie; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Bill Elkinton officiated. He and Alma Elkinton, Ed Elkinton and Elaine Page sang, accompanied by the organist,Jean Nickell. Pallbearers were Mell Page, Ed Elkinton, Ken Nichols,Ray Spellman, Jr., Ron Spellman and Hank Spellman. Honorary pall-bearers were J.G. Shelden and Harold Grimes. Burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in her name to the nursing home.
