Dennis William Nofsinger, 77, Osawatomie, died Friday, Sept. 5, 1986, at St. Mary's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

The son of Leroy and Viola Mcdowell Nofsinger, he was born Jan. 22, 1909, in Hawkeye, Mo. The family moved to Osawatomie when he was very young. Dick, as he was known to many, grew up at Osawatomie and attended the schools there. He graduated with the Class of 1927.

In May of 1940, he was united in marriage to Eva Ferrall Roy in Garnett

Mr. Nofsinger worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a welder and pipefitter. He retired in 1974 after 35 years of service.

He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 921 and the Osage Valley No. 24 AF&AM, both of Osawatomie.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eva Nofsinger of the home; a stepson, Herbert Lee Roy, Jr. of rural Paola; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Maxine Rowe of Moline, Ill.; a granddaughter, Mrs. Linda Fenoughty, whom they raised; four other grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The services were at 2 p.m. Monday at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie. The Rev. Rich Roberts, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Osawatomie, officiated. The music was provided by Mrs. Nelle Dollar at the organ.

The pallbearers were Bill Stanton, Ernest Jones, Lyle Fields, Clayton Hartford, Fred Wicke, and Glen Ricketts. Masonic services were held at the chapel. The burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Masonic Home.
