MAY 15, 1909 - DECEMBER 25, 1979

Miss Eleanor Vossler, 70, lifelong Osawatomie resident, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 1979, at the Miami County Hospital. Daughter of the late Gottlieb F. and Agnes Lofv Vossler, she was born in Osawatomie, May 14, 1909.

Miss Vossler graduated from the Osawatomie High School in 1926. In 1926 she began her college education at the University of Kansas at Lawrence and in 1930 received a degree in French and Spanish. She was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority.

After substitute teaching for one year in the Osawatomie schools, she received a position as a high school English teacher, a job she held for 39 years.

In addition to her teaching duties, she served as a sponsor of the school newspaper for a number of years and was often accompanist for school assemblies. Miss Vossler retired in 1971. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Osawatomie.

Surviving are an aunt, Zelphia E. Lofv of Osawatomie and several cousins, including Teresa, Steve, Sue and Cathy Vossler, all of Osawatomie, Merritt, Arthur and Richard Vossler, Wellsville, N.Y., and Bernard Vossler, Bradenton, Fla.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie, with the Rev. Alan Smith officiating. Mrs. Pat Nugen provided the music, accompanied by the organist, Mrs. Nelle Dollar.

Burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were William W. Eddy, Fred Wicke, Bethel Perry, Brosie Wolken and Roy Carpenter
