FRANCIS O. BARRETT

DECEMBER 30, 1906 - MAY 17, 1986

Services for Francis Olin Barrett, 162 14th St., Osawatomie, were held Tuesday in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.

Mr. Barrett died unexpectedly Saturday, May 17, 1986 at his home. He was 79.

The son of Loss Albert and Anna Johnson Barrett, he was born De. 30, 1906 near Osawatomie. He grew up in Osawatomie and graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1926.

He married Roberta Edgerle in December 1933. They made their home in Osawatomie and were parents of one son. Mrs. Barrett died Jan. 27, 1958.

Mr. Barrett was a brakeman for Missouri Pacific Railroad for 26 years before retiring in 1971.

He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.

He married Mae Strain in 1962 in Coffeyville. She died Sept. 20, 1972.

Mr. Barrett was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen and Osawatomie Community Senior Service Center.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lisle.

Survivors include his son, Charles Barrett, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Earl Barrett, Osawatomie; a sister, Beulah Yardley, Mesa. Ariz.; and two grandchildren.

The Rev. Ruth Kottwitz conducted the services. Nancy Snyder sang, accompanied by Nelle Dollar, organist. Pallbearers were Tom Parmenter, William E. Calvin, Brendon Marriott, Clayton Hartford, Robert Wilson and Warren Grunden. Burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery with a flag ceremony at the graveside.

A memorial has been established in his name to the Diabetes Foundation.
