Services for Marguerite Lucille Sherman, Paola, were held Thursday in the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sherman, a former Osawatomie resident, died Monday, May 25, 1998 in the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Olathe. She was 92.

The daughter of Joseph Johannes and Sarah Jane Mooney Collins Geuy, she was born Jan. 11, 1906 in Osawatomie. She grew up and attended school in Osawatomie and was a 1924 graduate of Osawatomie High School.

She and Robert Earl Sherman were married May 1, 1932 in Ottawa. He preceded her in death Feb. 22, 1967.

The Shermans owned and operated a variety store in Huntington Park, Calif. in the late 1930s but returned to Kansas to be near their families. Mrs. Sherman taught school in Green Valley and Pony Corner in Miami County and Tuckerville School near Spring Hill. She also worked at Coker's Store and Osawatomie Floral.

Mrs. Sherman was a member of the First Christian Church of Osawatomie, the Silver Link Lodge #207, National Association of Retired Veteran Railway Employees, the Blitz Club and Osawatomie Monday Club.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Kirk Johnston officiated. Music was provided by Julie Weaver, Organist.

Burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gary Anderson, Mark Kurtz, Bob Kurtz, Chuck Kurtz, Rob Nichols and Bob Nichols.

Memorials have been established in her name to Olathe Hospice and the church.
