APRIL 15, 1905 - DECEMBER 27, 1980

Last rites for Lisle E. Barrett, 1839 Parker Ave., Osawatomie, were held Dec. 30 in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home. Mr. Barrett was pronounced dead on arrival in Miami County Hospital Dec. 27, 1980. He was 75.

Mr. Barrett was born April 15, 1905, in Osawatomie, the son of Loss and Anna Johnson Barrett. He attended Osawatomie schools and graduated with the class of 1924 of Osawatomie High School. After attending the College of Emporia, he began a career with the Missouri Pacific Railroad that ended with his retirement as a conductor in 1972 after 46 years of service.

He married Helen Beatrice Sherman Feb. 25, 1931, in Osawatomie and they were parents of two sons.

Mr. Barrett was a member of the First Christian Church of Osawatomie; Osage Valley Lodge No. 24, A.F. & A. M.; and the United Transportation Union.

Survivors include his wife, Helen, of the home; two sons, Sherman Barrett, Osawatomie, and Richard Barrett, Ottawa; two brothers, Francis Barrett and Earl Barrett, Osawatomie; a sister, Mrs. Beulah Yardley, Livingston, Mont.; and five grandchildren.

The Rev. Almon Martin officiated at the services. Fred Longshore sang, accompanied by Mrs. Faye Belle Martin, organist. Active pallbearsers were Irvin Grant, C. A. Thomas, Clayton Hartford, J. G. Sheldon, Edgar Buchanan, and Bob Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were Everett Whitney, John Matney, I. H. McMahon, Harvey Daily, Robert Banister, Frank Toops and Harold Grimes. Masonic services were held in the funeral home. Burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery.

Memorials have been establishd in his name with the Diabetes Fund and the First Christian Church.
