Myrtle Kathryn Erickson, 94, died Saturday, January 29, 2000, at Park Place Care Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2000, at Muehlebach Funeral Home; interment in Osawatomie Cemetery, Osawatomie, KS. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday, at Muehlebach Funeral Home. It is requested there be no flowers, but contributions may be given in her memory to the Endowment Fund of Swope Park Baptist Church, Kansas City, MO.

Myrtle was born in Osawatomie, KS.

After graduating from the Osawatomie High School in 1923, she become a member of the Alumni Association. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the Kansas State University, Pittsburg, KS. Graduate work was done at the University of Kansas City, MO. She taught 22 years in the Osawatomie Schools and served as President of that organization. In Osawatomie she served as a president of the Business and Professional Women's Club. She retired from teaching in 1971 after teaching her last 25 years in the Prairie District Schools which merged with the Shawnee Mission District, completing in all, 47 years in Kansas Schools. She served as president of the Prairie District Teachers Association. She was a charter member of the Alpha Alpha Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, honorary teachers sorority, local, national and international. She was a charter member of Johnson County Retired Teachers Association of northeast Johnson County, and also a member of the AARP National Retired Teachers. She was a member of Swope Park Baptist Church of Kansas City, MO, and a member of the affiliated XY2 Club of the church. Her husband, Dell Erickson preceded her in death in 1978. She leaves one niece, Myra Lemon, Raytown, MO; and three nephews, Eugene Lundy, Kansas City, MO, Dr. Park Wayne Wagers, Pasadena, CA; and Ronald Wagers. (Arrangements: Muehlebach Funeral Home)
