AUGUST 30, 1904 - NOVEMBER 16, 2000

Alice Nettie Bussell, 96, Osawatomie, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at the Ark Haven Nursing Home in Fort Scott.

She was born Aug. 30, 1904, in Parker, and her parents were Clyde E. and Lillie Chamberlain Mallory. She was a 1923 graduate of Osawatomie High School.

She and Larkin Lewis Bussell were married April 19, 1925, in Osawatomie. They became the parents of four children. Mr. Bussell preceded her death in 1997 after 72 years of marriage.

Mrs. Bussell taught school for two years at Indianapolis School west of Osawatomie.

She was known for always putting others first.

Mrs. Bussell was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Osawatomie and was affiliated with United Methodist Women.

Others preceding her in death included two daughters, Lillian Bussell and Dorothy Landry, and a brother, Robert Mallory.

Survivors are her son, J.C. Bussell of Shelbyville, Texas; her daughter, Wilma Shores of Fort Scott; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services were today (Monday) at Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie. Pallbearers were Bill Manly, Gary Burgoon, Ron Pool, Gregg Lewis, Ben Polen and Reggie Fancher. Burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Osawatomie High School scholarship fund.
