Services for a longtime teacher, Anna Klockman, of 417 Parker Ave., Osawatomie, were held Thursday in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.

Miss Klockman died Feb. 9, 1987, in Miami County Hospital, Paola, at the age of 83.

She was born July 30, 1903, in Bolivar, Mo., the daughter of Herman and Anna Oberlander Klockman. In 1908, the family moved to a farm near Osawatomie. She attended Plum Creek School and Osawatomie High School, graduating in 1923.

She earned a degree in education from Pittsburg State University and also studied at Emporia State University, Ottawa University and the University of Kansas.

Miss Klockman taught school at the rural schools of Wild Creek, Crescent Hill, Osage Valley and Indianapolis from 1923 until 1934. She taught in Osawatomie public schools from 1934 until 1963 and in the George A. York School at the Osawatomie State Hospital from 1965 until 1969.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Osawatomie, Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority, Osawatomie National Education Association, Kansas NEA, National Education Association and National Retired Teachers Association.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward E. Klockman, and two sisters, Lena Klockman and Rosa Klockman.

The Rev. Richard A. Roberts, Jr. officiated. Organ selections were played by Nelle Dollar. Pallbearers were Ernest Swenson, John Shaw, William Lewis, Walter Hays, Charles Heckart and Fred Barden. Burial was in Elmdale Cemetery.

An Anna Klockman Scholarship fund with Osawatomie Unified School District 367 has been established.
