Graveside services for a former Osawatomie resident, Virginia C. Blauvelt Baker, Kansas City, Mo. were held Friday in Osawatomie Cemetery.

Her funeral was held earlier in the day in C.H. Blackman and Son Funeral Home, Kansas City, Mo.

Mrs. Baker, 92, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997 in Trinity Lutheran Hospital.

She was born May 23, 1905 in Nebraska, the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Cecil Blauvelt. The family later moved to Osawatomie where Mrs. Baker attended school, graduating from Osawatomie High School in 1923.

For more than 40 years, she was a clerk/bookkeeper for Missouri Pacific Railroad. Her retirement came in 1965.

She was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church of Kansas City, Mo.

Among those preceding her in death was her husband, Harry Baker, who died in 1978.

Survivors include a son, Joseph N. Baker, Orange, Calif.; a daughter, Patricia B. Ouellet, St. Louis, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established in her name to the church at 217 Benton Blvd.
