Services for Eva Margaret Haigh, Osawatomie, were held Saturday in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.

Mrs. Haigh, who spent most of her life in Osawatomie, died Thursday, August 11, 1994 in Heritage Manor. She was 91.

The daughter of Garland Rolland and Aura Hughes Verdier, she was born January 10, 1903, in St. Joseph, MO. When she was three, the family moved to Kansas and she grew up in Osawatomie. She attended Indianapolis Country School west of Osawatomie and was a 1921 graduate of Osawatomie High School.

She and Orie "Bud" Haigh were married June 5, 1926 in Osawatomie. They became the parents of three children. Mr. Haigh died August 9, 1953.

Mrs. Haigh was a receptionist for Dr. W. O. Appenfeller for 20 years, before retiring at the age of 70. Prior to that time, she was chief operator for Youmans Telephone Co. many years and a PBX operator for Missouri Pacific Railroad for 10 years.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Osawatomie and sang in the church choir for more than 40 years. She was also a member of the Philathea Sunday School Class and Mary Marthas. Other memberships included the Marais des Cygnes Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Bolden Age Club, Miami County Hospital Auxiliary and the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees.

Mrs. Haigh also served as a volunteer at the Osawatomie Community Senior Citizens Center and as a member of the weekly singing group at Heritage Manor.

In addition to her husband, those preceding her in death were two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include her three children, Eleanor E. Manly, Osawatomie, Robert Haigh, Lee's Summitt, MO and Marie Ann Wicke, Olathe; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Lee Wiersma officiated. I. H. McMahon sang, accompanied by Rosalie Bowker, organist. Pallbearers were Jeff Young, Alan Manly, David Manly, Brian Wicke, Bob Southern and Tod Hughes. Honorary pallbearers were Ron Haigh, Lonnie Berry, Morgan McNeven, Tim Satzler and Bob Satzler. Burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in her name to the First United Methodist Church of Osawatomie church choir.
