Mrs. Mary Beeson Cook, 84, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1982, at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center. She was born July 1, 1898, at Butler, Mo., the daughter of Orlando and Katherine Smith Beeson.

Mrs. Cook attended Osawatomie High School graduating with the class of 1916.

Mrs. Cook served as chairman of the Kansas Board of Censors. She was a member of the Johnson County Republican Club, a past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of Chapter F of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

Her husband, C. Willard Cook Sr., was a mayor of Leawood and a Johnson County election committeeman for 12 years before retiring in 1974. He died in 1979.

Two sons, Charles W. Cook Jr. of Leawood, and Warren B. Cook of Louisville, Ky., five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren survive.

Memorial services were held at 8 p.m. Saturday in Overland Park. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, in the Osawatomie Cemetery under the direction of the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home of Osawatomie.

Memorials were made in her name to the American Heart Association.
