Osawatomie Graphic, July 17, 1980. From Kansas City Kansas. Miss Ruth Maher, 86, 905 N. Ninth, died Friday [July 11] in her home. She was an English and history teacher at Central Junior High School before retired in 1963.

Miss Maher taught at Junior High School 39 years and at Catholic parochial schools four years before she retired.

She was born in Washington County, Kansas, and had lived in Kansas City 58 years.

Besides being a member of Kansas City, Kansas Retired Teachers Association, she was a member of the National Education Association, The National Council of Teachers of English and the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.

Miss Maher was a volunteer receptionist for the American Red Cross and a member of the Victoria Tabernacle Church.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Sylvia M. Bowers, Osawatomie. Graveside services were held Monday in the Osawatomie Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the church
