Hugh W. Campbell, 78, died Saturday, April 1, 1972, in the Veteran's Administration Hospital, Wadsworth. A native of Osawtomie Mr. Campbell had been in business here for over 50 years. Mr. Campbell graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1912.

He was associated in the jewelry business with his brother, Edgar Campbell, for several years and later worked with his father in the real estate and insurance business.

Mr. Campbell left the insurance business to serve two and one-half terms as clerk o the district court of Miami County. After working for the Osawatomie State Hospital several years, he opened his own insurance office and continued operating it until he was hospitalized late last year.

Mr. Campbell was a veteran of World War I.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church; Osage Valley Lodge No. 24; American Legion Post, where he had served as post commander; and wa a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite member.

he is survived by his brother, Edgar W. Campbell, Osawatomie, and a sister, Mrs. Charles Endicott, Cincinnati, O.

The Rev. Clark Harbach officiated at services Tuesday in the Birchard Funeral Home. Mrs. Francis Troutman was the organist. Pallbearers were Herschel Rayl, Ernest Swenson, Ralph Whitla, Everett Coleman, George Hunsperger, and George Kitchen. Burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery.
