CLASS OF 1911

Harold D. Walthall, son of William J. and Harriet Ann Walthall, was born in Osawatomie, April 8, 1893, and passed away in the Missouri Pacific Hospital, St. Louis, Mo., on Thursday, December 2, 1948, at the age of 55 years, 7 months and 26 days.

Harold was a clerk for the Missouri Pacific Railroad in Osawatomie until his health failed, taking his pension on June 1, 1945. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Lodge No. 349 of Osawatomie, Brotherhood of Railway Clerks and the Christian Church.

He is survived by two brothers, Renzo G. of Burbank, Calif., and Brayman T. of Port Angeles, Wash.; two aunts, Minnie Cavinee of Beagle, Kas., and Ada Walthall of Parker, Ks.

“Brandy” as he was affectionately called by his many friends, lived in the tenor of his own way. He never sought praise and honesty was his watch word.

Funeral services were held in the Birchard Funeral Home Monday, December 6, at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Arnold O. Guy officiating. Mrs. Raymond Pearce and Mrs. Jack Mohler, accompanied by Mrs. E.B. Beasley at the piano sang “In the Garden” and “Face to Face.”

Pallbearers were David Smith, Norman Pinneo, Jr., Frank Zimmerman, Bert Edwards, Kyle Edwards, and George Dollard. I.O.O.F. services were held at the graveside. Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery, Osawatomie.
