FRED S. BARNARD

  CLASS OF 1907

d. JANUARY 7, 1942

Judge and Mrs. C. E. Rossman received word Thursday of the death of Fred S. Barnard of Evanston, Wyoming, on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1942. He was the son of Horace and Lelia Barnard and was born on a farm southwest of Osawatomie living in Miami County until he grew to manhood. He attended school in Osawatomie graduating with the class of 1907 and then attended college at Kansas University.

He began his railroad career as a fireman for the Missouri Pacific in Osawatomie. He went to Evanston to work for the railroad and returned to be married to Ethel Ranney Feb. 22, 1915. They returned to Evanston which had since been their home. For a number of years he had been an engineer for the Union Pacific.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Robert Barnard of Los Angeles, Lieut. Richard Barnard of Fort Ontario, Calif., Donald Barnard, student at the University of Wyoming at Laramie; a daughter, Doris, of the home; a sister, Miss Florence Barnard of Denver; and a brother, John Barnard of Los Angeles.

The body will be taken to Denver for cremation.
