Mrs. Jessie Remington Willis, prominent Osawatomie resident, died at the Miami County Hospital last Thursday after a lingering illness. She was 77.

Mrs. Willis, daughter of the late Maj. and Mrs. J. B. Remington, was born Dec. 20, 1882 in Osawatomie. She lived in Ottawa from 1924 to 1950 and except for that period was a resident of this community.

Her husband, the late Arthur E. Willis, was a son of the founder of the Willis Nursery of Ottawa. He died in 1948 and Mrs. Willis returned here two years later to live with her sister, Miss Ada Remington. Another sister, Mrs. Flora Remington Ward, lives at Richmond, California.

Mrs. Willis graduated from Osawtaomie High in 1901 and from Ottawa University in 1905. She was a member of the Methodist Church, the W.M.B. Sunday School class, D.A.R., Ottawa Shakespearean Club, Garden and Monday Clubs, the Women's Relief Corps of Of Osawatomie, and W.C.T.U.

Funeral services were held Saturday after at the Methodist Church with the Rev. A. Otis Beach officiating.

Pallbearers were Lee Case, Howard Barnes, George Hunsperger, Ray Parker, C. E. Strode, and Doug Hagadorn. Floral attendants were Mrs. Ross Yocum, Pearl Bornhouser, Goldie Pyatt, Grace Troxel, Salle Fowler, Omega Higgins, and Candace Case. Mary Ricketts, Ann Hauber, and Peggy Ludwig provided the music.

Burial was in Highland Cemetery at Ottawa under direction of the Eddy Funeral Home.
