ESTELLA HUNT STANLEY

CLASS OF 1896

 DECEMBER 29, 1878 - OCTOBER 5, 1958

Mrs. Earl A. Stanley, 79, died Sunday, October 5, 1958 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Crotty in Albuquerque, N. Mex., where she had made her home the past few years.

Estella Hunt, daughter of Azol and Mary Jane Sherar Hunt was born at the farm homestead near Osawatomie December 29, 1878. She graduated from Osawatomie high school in 1896 and after attending Baker University one year became a teacher in the elementary schools of Osawatomie.

June 9, 1903 she was married to Earl A. Stanley and two daughters were born to them. Helen M. Stanley, who died suddenly in her 26th year at Oklahoma City where she was practicing her profession of nursing and Mrs. Crotty.

Mr. Stanley died June 11, 1935.

Mrs. Stanley was a member of the First Methodist church of Osawatomie, a member of the Mercy Hospital club, the Monday Study club and a member of Chapter DO, P.E.O. She served as a member of the board of education of Osawatomie for 32 years.

Surviving besides her daughter are two grandchildren of Albuquerque.

Funeral services were held in the Eddy Funeral homeThursday with Rev. A. Otis Beach officiating. Burial was in the Elmdale cemetery
